  1. Every day there are less and less posts on the blog :(
This is the holiday season dammit and the only way to get thru this time of year is with copious amounts of strong adult beverages

  2. This one wasn't too coherent. I liked a few of the elements but the overall was not great. C. But a flying dog tour is still on my short list

  3. I loved the label so I was excited to try this one. The first sip was more bitter than I had expected. The second yielded some of the nutty flavors noted in the description. Each successive tastes increased my appreciation of this beer. I'm about half way through it now and it all seems to work together now. Very nice. This is the second Flying Dog entry that has won me over.

  4. Oops...didn't pay close enough to the type of Flying Dog and I see I have the stout not the ale in my fridge. Will have to save this for another night as it doesn't go well following the Belgian

  5. Started out decent enough but then it left that typical bitter Flying Dog aftertaste. I keep trying to like them since they're semi local but I can't. Anyway it's not a bad a beer and definitely not a great beer either. B

  6. Only 3 more days of the 24 DoB. Coming down the home stretch. I'm hoping that the last three days have 3 more quality beers. I did not have high hopes for this beer. I put it near the end in the order because it's a winter warmer like the next two we will try. According to the Beer advocate rating, this is probably going to be the worst of the next three beers. I'm half way through this now and it's just OK to me. nothing really sticks out to me besides a little after taste. I'll finish it, but won't be seeking this out in the future. Grade 7 of 10, C-

  7. I had high hopes for this. Have liked the last few Flying Dog beers I've had. At least the ones not made with Old Bay... Plus, due to circumstances of which I would rather not discuss, this was my fourth beer of the evening after two Heineken Lights and a Heineken. You'd think anything would taste great after that. But for me, this is just the standard generic maltfest that gets labeled as a winter beer. Maybe it's the "nuttiness" they are referring to but I don't like beers where I feel like I need to chew them. Not much of a fan at all. Although I'd definitely take it well ahead of the Heine or Heine Light.

  8. Flying Dog's try at a winter ale got me excited but I got mostly bitterness from this one. I can't prefer this over other Flying Dog like Gonzo, The Truth, or Pearl Necklace. Oh well, can't win them all.

  9. This is very full and filling. Based on the description on the label, I was expecting something with a little bit more bite, but was pleasantly surprised when it hit the lips. The nutmeg and cinnamon shone through with each sip and before I knew it, it was all gone.

  10. Poured very nicely with a beautiful color. Just the right amount of bitterness for me, with some aftertaste
but it didn't linger. Very flavorful and a beer I could enjoy all night long (when you're having more than one). Flying Dog continues to do a very good job.

  11. This reminds me of the girl that looks awesome; subtle, smooth, creamy texture and awesome pigmentation and just the right head. But alas that was it when it came to the awesomeness. Too much of a weird after taste. Oh well at least I got good head out of it.

  12. I cracked this open while watching an episode of "Dogs of War" on A&E, a new show about an org that pairs veterans with PTSD and dogs from shelters, saving both. It was powerful and intense, and I really needed a beer that could match that mood and stand on its own. The Flying Dog K-9 was our selection seemed an amazingly appropriate coincidence.

Strong flavor, rich undertones, and a clear nuttiness make this a very enjoyable beer for this time of year. I'm not sure I would drink more than a couple at one sitting, since there is so much intensity there, but I sure would have one more if I had it right now! This veteran enjoyed a K-9 while while watching canines save veterans. Merry Christmas.

  14. I was expecting more from this beer but was somewhat disappointed. It was good but not great.

  15. I gotta agree with the majority here...a solid drinkable beer but forgettable.

They say it changes every year...I still prolly wont try it again.

  16. It had a decent caramel/nutty malt presence but the finish was a little off. It wasn't horrible, just a little odd. I'll go with a B-.
