  2. Certainly has the carrot cake going on. Slight, zesty, lime sweetness. Not overhopped. Very smooth.

  3. So I am a day behind and trying (strongly trying) to finish yesterday's dragon fire beer. Holy shit is that thing hot!! And I love hot spicy food, like Thai spicy hot. But my mouth is on fing fire. What a weird combination of overly bitter with hot spicyness. Blah!! Hope to try another bitter beer that has hints of carrot?? WTF- WHO wants a carrot tasting beer???? Who picked this shit out??

    3. Wow this is a good bitter beer, too bad I dont like IPAs. I am sure anyone liking an IPA loved this one. Smooth with no funky aftertaste

  4. Great divide always puts out good beer and good labels. However the same thing could be said for ballast point; last night was a mess so I was cautious tonight. This one didn't let me down, good beer and a good label, here is to design drinking.

  5. I liked it. There's not many beers I don't like. Pretty decent abv and went down quick. Going to the store to get some more.

  6. This one is very hoppy but also very tasty. I think I have only had a Yeti from Great Divide so nice to try something else from this brewery. While I really like New Belgium's Ranger, I may have to put this one up there with it as far as favorite IPAs. Toaster Pastry is still my favorite of the brews so far though.

    1. The Yeti is an prime example of a good fuckin brew. The few times I've had it were always amazing drunk nights.

  7. Damn good choice, the wife and I have really gotten into IPAs lately and both like this one. I am going on an overnight camping trip with my son and his Cub Scout pack tomorrow, I wish I had another 12 or 14 to take with me.

  8. So it's December and like 70 degrees...sounds like a great night for an IPA tasting on the deck. The participants: Titan IPA, Schlafly TIPA, and Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA. I drank the Deschutes first, then Titan, and TIPA last. Before the tasting I thought TIPA was my all time favorite. Deschutes is very good and came in first. Titan second and TIPA third. If you have not had fresh squeezed IPA and are and IPA fan, stop now, go get a six pack, and thank me later. All of these were extremely different for being IPAs. Deschutes was just heavenly. Titan was great, more of the traditional IPA bitterness and piney. TIPA is just a step under the other two. You cannot go wrong with any of these, but Deschutes is the front runner for me. Grade for Titan, 8.5 of 10, B+

    1. I'm a little disappointed with the Tazmanian this year Tony. They moved into much larger production last year and it has never been the same.
Makes me sad...TIPA was one of my all time favorites. No longer the case

    2. Tony this is supposed to be a review on the Titan, not the Deschutes or TIPA. Get it together bro!

  9. I'm doubling up tonight after I had to skip last night. First up was the Sculpin. Where to start, I guess with the fact that it tasted like liquid old bay. I enjoy spicy food but spicy beer esta no bueno. C- because of the 7% ABV. Now on to the Titan. I actually enjoyed the extra hoppines of an IPA and found it refreshing. B because everything get a bump up after following a habenero sculpin.

  10. I think this is a good solid IPA, but it's not really speaking to me in any way. When I hear a beer described as "piney", my experience is that the bitterness is unpleasant and harsh, and that's what I'm getting here. It's not overpowering, but by the time I got to the bottom, I was done with it. I really wanted to experience the "rich, malty sweetness that is balanced with crisp hop bitterness", but it was not to be.

    Happy Friday, people - Cheers!

  11. Had really high hopes here. I'm a fan of most Great Divide beers I've had and like both the Denver Pale Ale and the Hercules Double. You'd think logic would dictate if you like the pale ale and the double IPA, it should follow that you should like the IPA.

I warmed up the palate with a 90 minute IPA and half of an Ehrlichiosis Ale from McWombat Brewing (i.e., my kitchen). Ro and I were both excited so I poured half the can in a glass for her and just drank mine from the can. Tasted very sweet and syrupy to me. Did some internet research on what hops are actually in here and found some speculation but clearly not the hops I enjoy. Just didn't do it for me. I finished my half relatively quickly and noticed that Ro had drunk one sip, let out a "meh", and fallen asleep on the couch. I decided this was a perfect opportunity to see if allowing the beer to breathe would improve it. So I drank her beer. Same thing. If this beer came in an unlabeled container and I drank it, I probably would think it was decent, but much like the Toaster Pastry benefited from lowered expectations, the Titan is done in by my raised expectations. This is no Titan.

    1. Curious as to the findings of your research Bill. Quite curious what the hop blend is.

    2. So according to a posting on homebrewtalk.com from a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who works at Great Divide, it is Simcoe and Amarillo bittering, Amarillo again for flavoring, Columbus at the end of the boil, and Columbus for dry hopping. I can't detect my hops by taste yet but I am pretty sure that I have had several IPAs with Amarillo hops that I have been disappointed with.

  12. This was a decent IPA. Nothing too special. I'm missing the "aggressively hopped" and met with a smooth easy to drink IPA. Not running out to grab a six pack. Giving it a C.

  13. I fucking hate IPA's but I fucking love this one. Almost tastes like fermented pine sap and that pine forest aroma is just downright amazing. Fully bodied unlike that weak ass Blizzard of Hops, and packs a decent punch with the ABV. I'm biased against IPA's but this is one of the best I've ever had. It almost makes me want to reconsider the style. A!

  14. After that thing from last night (see that blog post), I was looking forward to a downing a nice, solid and tasty IPA... and that's exactly what I got. A rich and delicious beer. Exactly what I needed. 3.75/5.

  16. Like very much. Seems like most IPAs are moving toward the citrusy hops these days. Nice to find a beer that is getting some of that resinous piney bitterness back. The thing that strikes me with this one is the harmonious balance of malt, citrus, and nice deep bitterness that finishes strong. I can see how not everyone would like this, but it's n my top 3 so far.
Great divide was the 1st brew pub I visited on my 1st trip to Colorado. What a great experience. They make solid beer...nuff said.

I'm gonna order a case of this next week. Certainly going to add this one to my draft lineup at the restaurant as well. Solid pick Tony!
