  1. I am so looking forward to tonight. If I wasn't going to the dentist, I'd drink this now. Let's start back in the summer of 2008. I'm stuck at a work conference in Monterey. I get dragged out to dinner with a nerdy, teetotaling co-worker and a couple of his friends from grad school. I'm thinking it will be awful. Turns out his friends are a couple of drunks. After many margaritas we end up in a liquor store. One asks me what kind of beer I like. I say Sierra Nevada is my favorite. He snorts in disgust and says if I think that's good, I should drink Lagunitas IPA. Suffice it to say, Sierra Nevada is still my favorite beer, but I spent that night tailgating at an energy efficiency conference and the local police ended up driving me back to my room. Good times.

I've had this before and remember it being tasty. I hope I was right. I definitely ordered it based on name alone at either American Ice or DC9. And of those 25 beers I had last weekend in Chicago, approximately 12 of those were Lagunitas IPA on tap at the Gingerman Tavern. Which I highly recommend if you find yourself needing a bar near Wrigley that is free of frat boys from the western suburbs. But I digress. Full report tonight. Or maybe later this morning.

  2. Now this is freaking beer! I've been missing hops and now we have hops. I guess that's the problem with doing this in the winter. Not enough hops. I'm going to finish this and go buy another case for tonight. I'm serious. Wait a minute, it's raining. Anyway, this is as good as I remembered it being and my favorite so far by a factor of 100.

  4. Why so many Ales in this case?! The initial smell alerted me this was going to be not one of my favorites. After tasting it, my initial instinct has proved to be correct. While I would I drink it again and i do not think it is horrible, I would not order it on my own but would have no problem drinking it if forced to.

  5. Another great one from Lagunitas. If you want to try another one of their beers, keep an eye out for Brown Shugga. Rating: 8

  6. Like all ales, this one didn't do it for me.

Yes, I do realize that I sound like a broken record.

  8. This one is alright. A little too hoppy for my taste, I would prefer sumpin' different. Check.

  9. This is a winner. I loved the aroma and love the taste. I've never had this, but have a feeling it will start making many appearances in my frig. Would love to have a 6 pack of this right now. I love the HOPS!!! I'll give it a strong 9, A.

  11. Very different, smelled like lemon and peaches or apricot (maybe I'm used to sniffing wine), and surprisingly, I enjoyed the hoppiness.

  12. Love this beer. Lagunitas is one of the best breweries around, IMO. Good stuff.

  13. Took me a few sips, but then I liked it. Was easy to drink and I drank it fairly quickly. I think this could be a beer for both the ladies and the gents.

  16. btw - read Ivan's reviews in a robot voice. Its quite hilarious. That and indicating he'd have no problems drinking something if forced to do so. Because those situations happen all the time. Ivan's reviews: A+

  18. I did the wise thing on this one and had a lot of beer i knew I liked first. This seemed ok even though it has wheat. probably because i was already drunk. I don't really remember it but I didn't hate it I don't think.
