Day 7: Brewer's Art Resurrection
Why We Picked It: We think it's delicious.
What Brewer's Art Says About It: Again, not much for descriptions on the website. Via Untappd: "Our Abbey-style brown ale, brewed with five types of malt and three hop varieties. This rich yet dry beer is dark amber in color with lots of flavor."
ABV: 7%
IBU: N/A
Fun Facts: Besides delicious beer, it is a cool little restaurant located in an early 20th century townhouse in the heart of Baltimore's historic Mt. Vernon district. Plus, they just opened an affiliated restaurant (Brewer's Art Tavern) in Highland in Howard County.

Finally caught up. And finally realized I was not signed in and comments were not loading. Anywho, very Belgian, but not all that sweet. Nice rendition of an abbey Brown.

I got some friends there
Was Jim Morrison a beer guy? I think he was more into other vices.
DeleteI didn't know Mr. Mojo personally, but I have a sense that he wasn't terribly selective when it came to vices...
DeleteLow energy today. Just got back in from the cold. Stupid blow-ups, stupid kids that love the blow ups.
ReplyDeleteAh... A familiar and appreciated blossom on the taste buds. Feeling better now. Known this beer for a while and always a welcome choice when available around the local watering holes. It's an Ale, it's brown, it's abbey style. What else could you want after cursing in the cold... a Cold, tasty beer!!!
Thank you Shep and karma for picking today to be the Resurrection day!!!
A solid brew. I used to enjoy Resurrection on occasion when I lived in Baltimore, where it's more common to see it on tap. Haven't had it in a while. I still enjoy it but probably can't drink more than one in an evening. More of an Easter beer than Christmas.
ReplyDeleteAt one time Resurrection was among my favorites. I still like it - as I do most Belgian dubbels - as it is flavorful and strong without overwhelming. Perhaps my pallet has evolved or production of the beer has allowed it to slip as its not as flavorful as I recall, but it is still a very good beer and always happy to have it. 3 out of 4.
ReplyDeleteHazy IPAs are my favorite but I was ready for a change of pace, and this fits the bill nicely.
ReplyDeleteThis was the perfect beer to drink while sitting by the fire last night...well- balanced and tasty. And the beers from the previous 2 nights were right up my alley, IPAs are my favorite, especially with a little fruitiness, always love Dogfish Head, and those did not disappoint. Now to go try Day 8, which I'm a little more hesitant about, we'll see...
ReplyDeleteI tried guessing the flavor of this one without looking. I could not quite identify it shamefully. Untappd said that it was a Brown-Belgian. Certainly taste the Belgian here but not the brown. It was a good beer to drink while practicing bass so that upgraded it to a 3.50 out of 5 for me. I think it is a little too malty and think to make it a good beer mile beer though 2.75 out of 5 for Beer Mile Chugability.
ReplyDeleteBrewers Art is indeed a quality brewer. Very consistent. I first had this at their Charles St basement bar. Had no idea how big it already was as a local brewery. Quality. Not my style though - because I do find it sweet. [Its all relative.] Also because it is 7%... How the f*** did those Belgian monks get up in the morning????
ReplyDeleteExcellent. This is a perfect winter beer. It is pretty complex but not overly spiced. Very nice malt profile, and a clean finish too. This might be my go to beer on Christmas morning.
ReplyDeleteI'd choose Celabrator
DeleteMuch better than I remembered. Really solid Belgian. 4 out of 5 Romelu Lukakus.
