  1. Wow, for a beer that packs a punch (high ABV) it sure did go down easy. If you enjoy hops, this one is for you. I'm a buyer!

    1. Agreed! It went down very easy but i chalk that up to the beers that took a certain amount of will and fortitude to get down so far in this tasting event. But feeling on top of the world now!!

  2. Very traditional Ale with a very hoppy taste and I didn't care! I still had the peach face until now. I brushed my teeth and used mouthwash several times to get rid of the taste from last night and I only had 2 sips. By far the best beer so far with a creamy head and creamy after taste (a little bitter but its all relative and I ain't had much of a selection to date). Goes great with creamy potato salad which I happened to have with dinner. So a blessing!!

    Rating: 7.5

  3. Yuck! I don't like this at all, it's way too strong. 3 sips and I'm done. Tony will have to finish this for me.

  4. I like the flavor but the booze is pretty overwhelming. I think I'd be a big fan if it tasted the same and had a 6% ABV. This isn't one of those Belgian beers where you don't notice the fact that you get drunk in 10 minutes. Here I was well aware of how potent this was. But I'll take it over the tasteless Brooklyn and the godawful Peach any day of the week.

  5. This beer was great and a nice contrast to that awful peach beer last night.

  6. Like everyone else, I was so happy this didn't taste like a nasty peach. It was good, but a little hoppy for me. I'd drink it again, but probably wouldn't buy it.

  7. I agree with Bolts. I'm not usually a pale ale person, but this was pretty smooth considering the high ABV. Just got done with pizza place in Arlington called Pupatella. For anyone who enjoys a good pizza, definitely the best I ever had. It is highly recommended.

  8. Anything is an improvement from last night but I really liked this beer. It doesn't seem like a summer beer to me, but more like a winter. I will be sure to keep an eye out for this beer in the future, but probably wait till colder months. 9 out of 10

  9. Double Trouble is one that I have had many times before. Great Double/Imperial IPA, from a great brewery. Hop flavor profile is down the middle... doesn't lean to the citrus side or to the funk side. Wish it was a 22 ounce bomber. There are a few double IPA's that are better, but not many. Grade = A.

  10. The best part about this beer is that Katy hates it...that means two for me and I LOVE IT!!! I like the aroma, the taste, the after taste and the high ABV. Agreed this might not be a summer beer, but welcome this after what we have tried so far. I will have to put this in my rotation. I'll give it an 8.5 out of 10, B+

  11. I woke up with a bounce in my step because I knew at the end of the day I would be having a double IPA - right up my alley and a welcome change from the light summers and the beer-whose-name-will-not-be-spoken from last night.

What surprised me about the Double Trouble was how smooth it was. While it was still high ABV and hoppy, it did not have the bite that I was expecting and have had with other doubles. Also, the aroma is intoxicating (literally). If it wasn't a waste of a good beer, I would wear it as cologne. Bonus: cool/creepy bottle logo.

In summary, my favorite on the list by far and has potential to become one my favorites period.

  12. As much as I'm not a fan of Pales Ales, this one went down okay. Amy did not like it at all - felt the ABV overpowered the taste of the beer.

  13. That is what I'm talking about...my first double trouble. Great beer. I'd drink a whole case of this powerful brew...over the course of a month.

  14. I am with Katy - it was waaaay too bitter for my taste and I could not finish it. I gave it a shot, but will not be drinking it again. I will say I like the label!

  15. I'm behind a day with this one but I've got it sitting in the fridge now getting ready. I've had this one before and like it a lot.

  16. Great beer. Surprisingly smooth. I can't say I'll drink it regularly, not with the high ABV, but I could see starting a night with one of these...

  17. Okay tasting and obviously has a lot of kick. I would never seek this beer out but would drink a few if the WGB wasn't available.
