Left Hand Brewing's Milk Stout

Milk sugar in your stout
is like cream in your coffee.

Dark and delicious, America's great milk stout will change your perception about what a stout can be. Preconceived notions are the blinders on the road to enlightenment. Udderly delightful.

  1. Now I'm a huge Guinness fan but historically I have not been a fan of most other stouts. Ro took one sip and said "it's no Guinness and tastes too much like coffee." She will be finishing her half so that's a good sign. Maybe it's because I poured it in a Guinness glass (I was flying blind with no glassware recommendation but it seemed appropriate), but I really like this beer. It does seem like a lighter stout. And 6% ABV. Sweet. Sweet stout. Consider me a fan.

  2. First I must say I cannot stomach Stout's. However since I had to try a couple last December and one earlier in this taste test, I was open minded. I was blown away but the flavor, the smoothness and creamy texture. I still don't like Stout's but was able to finish this beer without complaint. I still liked the previous stout we tasted but this was a definite close 2nd. Very good choice! I would actually drink either stout again.

  4. Just want yall to know that Tony is drunk off 3 beers tonight. We are playing catch up and somehow my tolerance has outlasted his tonight. After BMoore's comment on this beer I don't even want to try it. Who wants mine?

  5. I've been having williamsburg's Old Stitch this week which I recommend. As for the milk stout, creamy yes. A favorite, no. But I'd drink it nonetheless. The posts by this group are waning. Seems we're only good for the first 3 or 4 days. Report cards will be given and santa will be checking twice as we near December.

  6. This is easily the best Milk Stout I've ever had. But I've only had one other in my life and it was the most awful thing I've ever drank. This is pretty terrible too.

  7. This was not as bad as I was expecting it to be. Definitely the best milk stout I have ever had. I would probably not get it again.

  8. Maybe I am becoming a stout man in my mid/old age. This is two in a row that I like. The only other milk/sweet stout I have had is Saranac's Vanilla Stout, which I am a fan of. However, I think I like this one a little more. This is flavorful and sweet but not overpowering and with a nice smooth finish, but still with that the stout/coffee aftertaste you'd expect. It doesn't have the full body of a Guinness, but still very good.

  9. this was a sneaky beer. I enjoy stouts and was really lookign forward to this beer. I really liked this beer, but it seemed lighter than most stouts and you can really taste carmel, possibly a summer stout if one exisit? I could see myself having a few of these in early fall sitting outside by the fire pit, but not really that much during the summer. 8 out of 10

  10. I'm with Katy - I am not even opening this beer. Two things that should NEVER mix - alcohol and milk.

  11. I thought this was drinkable, but not enjoyable. I drank half and poured the rest out. I'm just not a stout guy. 5 out of 10, D.
